'Everyone's giving me grief' regarding the series finishing before I get there.

Cricket fans on tour

Sunshine, meat pies and world-famous cricket grounds - what more could an Three Lions follower desire?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to win back the Ashes after the first three Tests.

This is not the case during this tour, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide left the home side 3-0 up for the fourth straight contest on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the organized fan base, have 3,000 fans making the journey for the final two Tests in the SCG and MCG.

Furthermore, other organized trips who will celebrate the holidays overseas, as well as loved ones embarking on a special expedition.

The Ryding Siblings

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are four such fans.

The group had their flights and tickets secured for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", dreaming of a historic English victory.

Sadly, they've observed Australia dismantle the tourists in just a short period from their house in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been teasing me regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"The hope was that we would have a meaningful contest upon our arrival."

Fading Positivity

There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of breaking a 15-year drought for a victory down under before it began.

But they are now staring down the barrel of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The tourists - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach the positive style of play in the past couple of seasons had "brought fresh energy to" Test cricket for English supporters.

However, the group said they had low expectations for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are requesting from the players is "some resilience".

"Every pundit alludes to it, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'This style has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," commented another sibling.

"During a long match, you should dig in. Playing at deliveries 'outside the line has never been in the textbooks, and that is largely because of the batting lineup."

The Remaining Matches

Prompted about he believed England will win a match in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the Aussies are just too good currently."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that makes a significant contribution and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still anticipating the trip.

"It will be a great time anyway," said Katie. "We must adopt that mindset."

"Obviously it is disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have spent so much money by now."

"We plan to savor spending the festive season overseas. Additionally, it's mine and Rory's first time traveling at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I've got golf to rely on," she finished.
