According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for consideration by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a news release that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request remain unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

These meetings allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Maxwell’s visitors were also reportedly permitted to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Other privileges reportedly provided to Maxwell include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to the convict is not something he has considered,” the representative added.

Context and Developments

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Maxwell told close associates in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, she was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” the representative stated in the document. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official attend a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether he had discussed a potential commutation for the convict with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange Maxwell with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her attorneys, family or agents have made any promises to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an appeal from the convict on her trafficking verdict.
